Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely recognized by his stage name Portable, has voiced his distress following the reported sealing of his unfinished building and hotel in Sango-Ota by the Ogun State government, citing unauthorized construction as the reason.

The ‘Zazu’ hitmaker took to Instagram to share a contravention notice, disclosing that the operation was executed by the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority.

Portable claimed that the enforcement action led to the detention of over 20 individuals, including patrons and staff, and the seizure of alcoholic beverages from his establishment.

In a heartfelt message, he expressed his dismay:
“I have faith in Eledumare. No one can deceive me, Omo Olohun.

“They rounded up everyone, taking more than 20 individuals, both artists and customers, and confiscated vehicles, motorcycles, and even personal phones and belongings.

“They sealed my new, unfinished building and hotel. Why? In my own hometown, and we didn’t resist, they took all the drinks we were selling at Odowgu Bar and Food. Why? The government should please investigate this.
“I use this venue to host events and shows, not just for drinks. I’m promoting and supporting people here.

“The government should inquire; I’ve installed lights throughout, and before the government came for road repairs, I reached out to them for assistance. Why would they target my property, which I rely on to support my family? They later came and confronted me where I was, but God is above them.”

At this time, the Ogun State Planning and Development Authority has not issued a response to these allegations.
