Owodunni Ibrahim, widely known as Primeboy, a childhood friend of the late Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), has filed a lawsuit against Abosede Aloba, the late singer’s mother, accusing her of defamation.
The lawsuit claims that Abosede made false and damaging statements about Primeboy.
Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, was buried the following day. However, his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy by the police.
In October 2024, Primeboy threatened legal action against Abosede, alleging that she had falsely claimed he had an altercation with Mohbad before his death. In a letter shared on Instagram, Primeboy labeled the statement as “libelous, injurious, and malicious.”
He demanded N50 million as “exemplary damages” for the defamation. The letter read in part, “The sum of N50,000,000.00 (Fifty Million Naira only) being exemplary damages for libelous, injurious, falsehood and malicious statements made of and concerning the Claimant by the Defendant in a video interview made on the 28th of March, 2024, and published across several media outlets, designed to tarnish the Claimant’s reputation in the eyes of society.”
The letter also instructed Abosede to respond within 42 days, warning that failure to do so would result in the case proceeding in her absence. “You are hereby commanded that within 42 (forty-two) days after the service of this Writ on you, inclusive of the day of such service, you do cause an appearance to be entered for you in an action at the suit of the Claimant,” it stated.
