Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has called on Tigran Gambaryan, a senior executive at Binance Holdings Limited, to take a lie detector test in a neutral country to prove the veracity of his bribery accusations against Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Gambaryan, who serves as Binance’s head of financial crime compliance, was detained in Nigeria from February to October 2024 as part of a federal probe into alleged money laundering and economic destabilization related to Binance’s operations in the country.
On Friday, Gambaryan posted on X, accusing three Nigerian lawmakers of demanding a $150 million bribe in cryptocurrency, and claiming that Ribadu sought financial favors from Binance to further his political goals. The Nigerian government quickly rejected the accusations as baseless and untrue.
In defense of Ribadu, Murray-Bruce stated that the NSA was incapable of such actions, dismissing Gambaryan’s allegations. He also reminded Gambaryan that he should be grateful for his release, as Ribadu had the power to secure his lifelong imprisonment.
“I have known Mallam Nuhu Ribadu my entire life, and I can say with complete certainty that he is incapable of the allegations against him,” Murray-Bruce asserted.
“I challenge @TigranGambaryan to take a lie detector test if he truly believes his claims,” Murray-Bruce added.
The former senator further accused Gambaryan of tarnishing Nigeria’s reputation with his unsubstantiated allegations and suggested that he prepare an apology once the test disproves his claims.
