The Peace and Reconciliation committee for Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF has appealed for mutual understanding respect and political stability in Rivers State, calling on all parties to neglect their political gain for wish of the people.

In a statement released after the closed door meeting by the Chairman of the Rivers Elders Forum, Rufus George on Wednesday in Porthacourt, he expressed optimism about the reconciliation efforts, stating that progress had been made in resolving the crisis.

According to him, peace was achievable if all parties respected the people’s mandate.

Insight Media reports that the main focus of the meeting was to foster unity between the two political factions in the state, Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.

George also charged President Bola Tinubu to intervene into the matter and ensure a peaceful resolution.

PANDEF delegations at the meeting in Porthacourt include former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Victor Attah (Chairman), Senator Roland Owie, Senator Emmanuel Essien, Col. Pam Ogar, Senator Stella Omu, Engr. Dagogo Jack, amongst others.
