No fewer than four people have been feared dead, with twenty-five people reportedly shot after a crisis erupted from the appointment of Prince Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle, a town in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State by the state government.

 

Ido-Ayegunle is a town between Ijebu-Ijesa and Esa-Oke.

 

The dispute which started over the weekend snowballed into a communal crisis on Monday as indigenes of town alleged that the monarch was from Ilesa.

 

“There’s a war going on in Esa Oke between Ilesha people and Esa Oke indigenes,” a worried source said in a distress message to News Express.

 

“Ilesha people want to crown in a king in Ido Ayeginle in Esa Oke, but the indigenes are strongly opposed to it,” the source said.

 

He disclosed that the disagreement degenerate into a war this Monday morning, February 3, 2025.

 

 

Confirming the incident, the Osun State Police PRO, CSP Yemisi Opalola disclosed that seven police officers have been injured and none of the officers is dead.

 

Opalola however did not mention the cause of the crisis that engulfed the community on Monday morning.

 

According to the video clips online, some people were seen in the possession of gun, panicking residents and dead bodies on the streets.
