Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, has condemned the police for re-arresting TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as Seaking, over alleged cyberbullying of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Ogunsanwo was reportedly detained after a petition was submitted by one Paul James Adama, representing a Christian group, on behalf of Adeboye.

In a statement shared on his Twitter page, Sowore explained that he visited the Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force, where he was informed that Ogunsanwo’s re-arrest was related to accusations of cyberbullying against Pastor Adeboye.

Sowore wrote, “According to them, Paul James Adama, using the name of a ‘Christian association or group’ linked to Police PPRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi (@Princemoye1), filed a petition on behalf of the RCCG General Overseer. When we questioned how a TikTok video by @seaking303 could intimidate or bully a prominent General Overseer, protected by both divine and worldly security, they quickly dismissed us, saying we should return after Jumat prayers. It seems they have no intention of releasing him from their unjust detention.”

Sowore also raised concerns about how a TikTok video could be perceived as bullying for someone as well-protected as Pastor Adeboye. He pointed out that Nigeria’s ongoing challenges have led to the decline of the police force and a loss of trust between law enforcement and the public.
