The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu will preside over today’s National Caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

This announcement was made by APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, in an exclusive interview with The PUNCH.

Basiru assured, “By the grace of God, the President will be there. He has already confirmed his attendance.”

He also dismissed concerns that the upcoming National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, might be postponed again.

“No, nobody is postponing anything. The National Caucus and the NEC meetings will proceed as planned on Tuesday and Wednesday,” he stated.

Last year, both meetings, initially set for September 11 and 12, were unexpectedly called off. While no official reason was provided for the postponement, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, assured that new dates would be announced.

After several months without an update, speculation grew over when the meetings would be rescheduled. However, the APC leadership maintained silence on the issue, with National Working Committee members simply stating “very soon” when asked.

In a leaked memo signed by Basiru, it was revealed that the National Caucus meeting will take place at the Presidential Villa banquet hall today, February 25, while the NEC meeting will be hosted at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on the following day, February 26.

The memo stated: “Distinguished colleagues, kindly circulate the following to all party stakeholders in the states: The National Caucus of the party is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa by 6 pm. The National Executive Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at the National Secretariat of the Party. Best regards.”

Both meetings are expected to be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Muhammadu Buhari also in attendance.

Key figures including APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio, current and former APC governors, as well as past and present Speakers of the House of Representatives, state party chairmen, National Working Committee members, and other party stakeholders are expected to be present.

Notably, the NEC and Caucus meetings will mark Ganduje’s first as APC National Chairman.
