The injured Argentina forward Lionel Messi has shared his reaction on social media after Argentina demolished Brazil in 2026 World Cup qualifier match

The reigning world champions thrashed arch-rivals Brazil 4-1 on Tuesday courtesy of goals from Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister and Giuliano Simeone. Matheus Cunha scored the consolation goal for the Selecao. The win helped Argentina increase their lead to eight points at the top of the CONMEBOL 2026 World Cup qualifying table.

La Albiceleste captain Messi sat out the latest round of the qualifiers after he sustained a muscle injury. The Inter Miami star, however, enjoyed the match in the comfort of his home as he shared his reaction to Argentina’s thumping win on social media. Messi posted a video of himself watching the game on television on his Instagram story and inserted five clapping emojis.

Throughout the game, the Argentina fans at Estadio Monumental jeered heavily at Barcelona and Brazil star Raphinha, who had made provocative X-rated statements against the reigning world champions during a chat with Romario before the contest.

Lionel Scaloni’s side will return to action in three months time, with qualifiers matches against Chile and Colombia scheduled for June 4 and 9, respectively. Argentina will hope Messi is fit to take part in those fixtures
