Veteran journalist and politician, Dele Momodu, has claimed that only former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has the ability to challenge President Bola Tinubu in Nigerian politics.
Momodu stated that other politicians, including Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, do not have the courage to take on Tinubu.
Momodu also predicted that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, would eventually be sidelined by Tinubu once his value to the administration has run its course.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Momodu remarked:
“Atiku is the only one today who is not afraid of Tinubu. Everyone else, including Peter Obi, lacks the guts to face him, despite being used by Atiku in 2019. As for Wike, I have no doubt that the presidency will use him and then discard him when the time comes.”
In explaining why he does not support President Tinubu despite their past relationship, Momodu shared.
“While he has helped me in the past, I have also done a lot for him. He is a kind-hearted and generous person, but in politics, I cannot support the idea that your word is law and no one dares to challenge it. Even Chief Awolowo had people who disagreed with him.”
