Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that Atiku Abubakar’s attempt to run for president in 2027 will be his seventh failed bid.

In a Facebook post, Olayinka urged the former Vice President to stop deceiving himself after six unsuccessful attempts at the presidency.

His comments came in response to Atiku’s recent remark that he had no regrets about not choosing Wike as his running mate during the 2023 presidential election.

As Wike’s spokesperson, Olayinka also emphasized that his principal would work to block Atiku’s 2027 presidential campaign.

He further pointed out that Wike harbored no regrets about Atiku’s decision to select former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate instead.

“Six unsuccessful attempts, and yet he continues to deceive himself despite his age,” Olayinka wrote. “2027 will be his seventh failed attempt.”

Atiku Abubakar has contested the presidency six times in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023. His most recent attempt in 2023 ended with a defeat by President Bola Tinubu.
