Former minister of Humanitarian and Natural disaster, Dr. Betta Edu on Wednesday had the honor of hosting His Eminent Highness, the 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, CFR, the Chancellor of the University of Calabar, along with his entourage, for the breaking of fast (Iftar) at her residence in Calabar.

The deputy governor of Cross River Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, was also in attendance.

In addition was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, who led the Chairman and members of the University’s Governing Council, the University Management, and the wider university community, including students, to the event.

The leadership of the Cross River State Muslim community alongside other Muslim faithful, also joined in the gathering.

The Iftar, who took place at the residence of Betta Edu during a significant period, as Christian faithful were simultaneously observing their annual Lenten season.

The former minister while hosting the key stakeholders said: “Nigeria remains a nation governing by the Almighty God, and under the auspicious leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is making efforts to foster unity, cultural appreciation, and interfaith harmony in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration

“Ramadan Kareem to all Muslim faithful, and Happy Golden Jubilee Celebrations to my alma mater, the University of Calabar!
