The Olobu of Ilobu, HRM Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II JP, on Sunday, called on Muslims across Ilobu/Ifon/Erin-Osun to use this time to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the communities.

He spoke at his palace shortly after the two units of prayers to mark Eid el-Fitr at the Ilobu Central Eid ground when thousands of Muslims, led by the Chief Imam of Ilobu, paid him Salah homage.

The Olobu appealed to Muslims in the Ilobu community to live in peace with other communities irrespective of towns, religion, or political affiliation.

While congratulating the Muslim Ummah, the Olobu of Ilobu commended the Osun State Government under the watch of Asiwaju Gov. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for securing life and property as they responded to the call to deploy resources to secure and protect the community in order to restore peace across the three communities.

He further admonished the Muslim faithful to imbibe the teachings and all they had learned during Ramadan in their daily activities, so as to live as true Muslims. The values of generosity, forgiveness, and compassion, which are celebrated during Eid, are ones that should be valued and upheld beyond the period of Ramadan.

As doing good is not limited to the holy month of Ramadan and should continue throughout the year, Olobu urged philanthropists and well-to-do individuals in the community to continue supporting the needy and poor with their generosity.

The Chief Imam of Ilobu, Prof. Adewale Abdul-Azeez, in his Eid sermon, also admonished Muslims faithful to see Ramadan as a teacher that serves as a guide for their daily activities beyond the month.

The Imam urged Muslims in the Ilobu community to promote moral values and the lessons of Ramadan such as piety, generosity, and peaceful coexistence.
