The management of Lagos State University (LASU) is calling for immediate justice following the alleged murder of Adedamola Ogunbode, also known as Horlar, by a pastor.

Ogunbode, a 2024 graduate, was set to participate in the institution’s 28th Convocation Ceremony scheduled for April 3–10, 2025, but was reported missing on January 16, 2025. It is believed he was killed by a pastor in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

Previous reports by Vanguard confirmed the arrest of the suspected pastor by the Lagos State Police.

In response to the tragic event, LASU’s management issued a statement late on Tuesday, expressing condolences and urging swift justice for the victim’s family.

The statement, signed by Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, reads: “The University Management is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Adedamola Quadri Ogunbode, a recent graduate of Lagos State University. Adedamola, affectionately known as Horlar, was reportedly killed by a pastor in the Ojo area of Lagos State, allegedly for ritual purposes.

“Adedamola, a 28-year-old Political Science Education graduate, had been missing since January 16, 2025. Following investigations, his mutilated body was reportedly discovered buried on the grounds of a well-known church in the area. “We urge our university community, especially our esteemed students, to remain calm while the authorities conduct their investigation. We also encourage everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

“The safety and security of our students is our highest priority, and we remain committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe environment for all.
