Popular comedian and skit maker, Mark Angel, has urged the youth and residents of Rivers State to avoid involvement in the ongoing political unrest in the state.

His warning comes after President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all elected members of the House of Assembly for six months. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has been appointed as the state’s administrator.

Mark Angel emphasized that the conflict is a result of political disagreements between government factions and should not concern the public, particularly the younger generation.

He encouraged youths to focus on personal development, their businesses, and health instead of engaging in political disputes.

In a video shared on his Instagram on Wednesday, the Rivers-born content creator recalled that he and his team had predicted such a crisis two years ago through their skits, though their warnings were dismissed at the time.

Mark Angel stated, “Fellow Rivers people and residents, especially the youths, this is not your battle. It is a government versus government issue. The disagreement between them is their concern, not yours. We had made skits and jokes about this two years ago, warning that this would happen, and now it has.”

He continued, “If they decide on military rule for 10 years, so be it. As long as we can go about our daily lives, do our businesses, eat, and progress. Do not fight over someone else’s problems. Let them settle their issues. Stay out of it.”
