Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has rejected claims that she apologized to the Nigerian Senate over the controversy leading to her suspension.

In a statement issued on Monday, March 24, 2025, the senator called the reports “false and misleading,” reaffirming her commitment to the stance that resulted in her six-month suspension.

“The reports suggesting I have apologized to the Senate or retracted my position are entirely untrue. I stand by my words and actions and have not offered any apology to the Senate or anyone else in connection to this issue,” she said.

Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the spreaders of these false claims, accusing them of attempting to distort the truth and deceive the public.

She emphasized that despite her suspension following a heated exchange with Senate leadership, she remains dedicated to defending the rights of her constituents. The senator also alleged that certain individuals were trying to manipulate public opinion through fabricated statements.

“I urge the public to disregard these rumors, as they do not reflect my position. My commitment remains to truth, justice, and the people I represent.”

“I Will Not Be Intimidated”

The senator also voiced concerns about what she sees as a coordinated effort to silence her voice in the National Assembly.

“This issue goes beyond me; it is about the integrity of our democracy. I will not be intimidated or coerced into silence by false narratives,” she stated.

She called on her constituents and all Nigerians to remain alert to misinformation, stressing that any official statement from her will come only through her verified channels.

“I appreciate the continued support from my people. Rest assured, I will remain steadfast in fighting for what is right and just,” she concluded.
