In a swift response to the ongoing communal conflict in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun, Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate establishment of holding camps to shelter displaced residents.
The directive follows the commencement of food and relief distribution through the palaces of the affected towns. Governor Adeleke emphasized that each town will have a designated camp, likely in town halls or other suitable locations, with security agencies screening displaced individuals before their relocation.
The Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) will oversee the supply of food and essentials while awaiting additional support from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Beyond humanitarian efforts, Governor Adeleke praised security agencies for their swift action in quelling the crisis and implementing his directive to prosecute key instigators of the conflict. He reaffirmed his commitment to justice, stating that all perpetrators must face legal consequences.
Meanwhile, the 24-hour curfew remains in place, with security forces intensifying surveillance to prevent further violence.
