Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has called on parents to instill godly principles in their children, warning that failure to do so could threaten their children’s future.

Pastor Adeboye, celebrating his 83rd birthday today, delivered a compelling sermon titled “Greater Tomorrow”, broadcast live from the church’s national headquarters in Ebute-Metta to all RCCG parishes.

During his sermon, he urged parents to take their roles seriously, emphasizing that children are the foundation of tomorrow. “Parents, train your children because they are your tomorrow,” he said, quoting the Yoruba proverb: “A child you fail to train will sell the house you are building.”

He stressed the importance of nurturing children in the ways of the Lord, warning that neglecting this responsibility could lead to a destroyed future.

Citing the example of Abraham from the Bible, Pastor Adeboye highlighted how God blessed Abraham and his descendants because He trusted him to raise his children in righteousness. He cautioned that parents must not allow their children to stray, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith.

Turning to the younger generation, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the importance of obedience, honor, and humility. “Honor your parents, for in honoring them, you secure your future and live long,” he advised. “Don’t ever think you know more than your parents.”

The respected cleric also encouraged his listeners to embrace hard work, humility, and submission to God, warning that pride is destructive. “Pride is a killer. God resists the proud. If you want a future, submit to God, and He will preserve your destiny,” he declared.

After the sermon, Pastor Oladele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer (SATGO) Admin and Pastor in Charge of Region 1, led a special prayer session for Pastor Adeboye, seeking divine strength and guidance for the years ahead.

The national headquarters also provided food for thousands of worshippers who gathered to mark the occasion.
