Yoruba Fuji musician, Alhaji Taye Adebisi, widely known as Taye Currency, has revealed that his fellow Fuji artist, Wasiu Alabi (Pasuma), is his boss, while Saheed Osupa is his colleague.
In an interview with Akede Ariya last Thursday, Taye Currency shared details of his relationship with Pasuma, recalling their first meeting. He clarified that while he did not learn Fuji music from Pasuma, he holds deep admiration for him, particularly for his humility.
“I met Pasuma in 1993, and we have remained close ever since. I didn’t learn Fuji music from him, but I admire him because of his humility. There is no disrespect. I wasn’t his drummer or backup singer. He was in Lagos, and I was in Ibadan, so the misunderstandings between us were largely fueled by our fans. We are not fighting. The insults are coming from people who don’t understand the situation,” he said.
Taye further explained that even those who have known each other for decades, including boss-worker relationships, can experience misunderstandings. He urged fans to stop prolonging the issue, emphasizing, “Pasuma is not troublesome, and neither am I. So, how could I have insulted him?”
Speaking about other figures in the Fuji music industry, Taye referred to Obesere as his brother and Saheed Osupa as a colleague, but made it clear that Pasuma holds the position of his boss. “I admit it, Pasuma is my boss,” he stated.
In October 2024, Taye Currency had responded to fans referring to Pasuma as his “father” in the industry, clarifying that he viewed Pasuma more as an elder brother. His comments sparked online discussions, with some of Pasuma’s fans criticizing him.
However, during the ongoing Umrah 2025 in Mecca, Taye Currency met Pasuma and expressed regret over his previous remarks, claiming they had been misunderstood. In a viral video, he apologized to Pasuma and anyone affected by his statements, reaffirming his respect for Pasuma and clarifying that he never intended to insult him.
