The Executive Director of Project Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Abuja, Mr. Oluremi Omowaiye, has urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently deliver relief materials to those displaced by the ongoing communal clashes in Osun State.

The violence, involving hoodlums from Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun, has resulted in numerous fatalities, injuries, and extensive property damage since the crisis began early Friday morning.

Omowaiye, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, expressed deep concern over the lack of relief efforts more than 72 hours after the clashes began. He made his remarks in a statement issued on Sunday to journalists in Osogbo.

“Over 72 hours have passed, yet there has been no establishment of camps or provision of aid for those displaced by the violence in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun,” Omowaiye lamented.

The former Osun State Commissioner for Works described the situation as dire, with displaced residents left without shelter, food, or assistance.

“These are people who were living in their homes and working until Thursday evening, when the crisis erupted. They have now become displaced within their own state. It is difficult to believe that the authorities responsible have not acted yet,” he said.

Omowaiye directly appealed to NEMA to take immediate action.

“I am pleading with NEMA to come and provide relief materials. The agency should set up camps immediately. People are sleeping in churches, mosques, and various spots along the Osogbo/Ogbomoso road,” he stated.

In addition, Omowaiye called on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, former Osun Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, to use his influence to secure federal assistance for the victims.

“I am also appealing to former Governor Oyetola, who now represents Osun in the federal cabinet, to leverage his connections and goodwill to ensure immediate aid is provided to these people. They cannot be left in such a condition,” Omowaiye added.
