A horrific case of ritual killing has shaken the Rukpokwu community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, after two underage sisters, Chizaram and Chidinma Onuche, were drugged, raped, and murdered in an uncompleted building.
The Rivers State Police Command has arrested four suspects, including a native doctor and a teenage girl, in connection with the heinous crime.
The main suspect, 27-year-old Aniekan Uko, allegedly lured the children to the location, drugged them, and then killed them, draining their blood.
According to Linda Ojims, a lawyer assisting with the police investigation, Uko may have hypnotized the children, making them follow him willingly.
The suspect reportedly gave them a drink that made them fall asleep, then raped and murdered them.
The police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, describing the case as “horrific”. Uko confessed to the crime, stating that he got involved in ritual killings after visiting a native doctor, who promised him wealth in exchange for fresh human remains and blood.
The police recovered important evidence, including a bottle containing the victims’ blood, a kitchen knife used for the murder, an empty can of Black Bullet used to drug the victims, and a spoon used to collect their blood. The victims’ bodies have been taken to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured the public that the suspects would face justice, urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station .
