Liverpool and England international, Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid to join them in the summer on a free transfer.
The English full-back is all set to bid farewell to his boyhood club Liverpool in the summer as he will complete a free transfer to Real Madrid.
According to Per Sky Sports in Switzerland, Alexander-Arnold’s representatives, including his brother, met with the La Liga giants and have reached an agreement for the full-back to sign a five-year deal at Santiago Bernabeu.
Sky Sports claim the deal is essentially ‘confirmed’, with the defender set to pocket a salary of €15 million (£13m/$16m) a year in Madrid – a significant rise from his current pay at Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold will also be entitled to attractive performance add-ons and a signing bonus.
The Reds have been trying to convince their star full-back to agree on a new deal throughout the 2024-25 campaign, however, the player has been determined to leave his comfort zone in his homeland and accept a new challenge in his career. Alexander-Arnold now looks certain to run his current contract down and head to Madrid this summer.
For now until the end of the season, the 26-year-old Arnold will focus on winning his second Premier League title with Arne Slot’s Liverpool side, who are currently sitting 12 points clear at the summit ahead of second-placed Arsenal. They will next be seen in action on April 2 against arch-rivals Everton at Anfield
