Troops of Operation Safe Haven have apprehended two suspects in connection with the abduction and murder of Reverend Father Sylvester Okechukwu in Kaduna State.

The suspects were arrested on Tuesday following a raid on the prime suspect’s hideout in the Warsa-Piti community of Lere Local Government Area.

 

According to Major Samson Zhakom, media officer of Operation Safe Haven, the prime suspect, a 33-year-old man, confessed to being hired by another man living in the same residence as the slain priest to kidnap him.

The second suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation at Agwan Sarki, Tachira in Kaura Local Government Area.

 

Rev. Fr. Okechukwu was abducted from his residence in Tachira on March 4 and found dead the next day.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover the whereabouts of other individuals involved in the crime.

 

The suspects are currently in custody undergoing further interrogation.
