The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala has described the defections of former governor of Kaduna States, Malam Nasir El-Rufai to Social Democratic Party (SDP) as an inordinate ambition destined to fail on arrival.

Following El-Rufai’s open criticism to President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the leadership of All Progressives Congress APC, he dumped the ruling party and immediately announced his defection to the SDP on Monday, March 10, 2025.

According to a statement released by the former governor on Monday, March 10, 2025, he stated that after a widely consultations, he decided to join Social Democratic Party which he sees as a platform to continue his progressive political ideals

Bwala while reacting to the development, acknowledged El-Rufai’s right to association. He added that the motive of his defection would be interrogated in the coming days.

In a X (Twitter) post on Monday,  Bwala said the former Governor of Kaduna State would be reminded that associating with “sore losers to unseat” President Bola Tinubu is neither an ideology nor progressivism.

He tweeted, “Senior, @elrufai. I read the news today that you resigned from APC to join SDP. Well, I have nothing against you because you exercised your constitutional right. However, the MOTIVE is what we would interrogate in the coming days and remind Nigerians that you are not a phenomenal that emerge like a clap of thunder out of a blue sky.

“We would intellectually remind you that associating with sore losers to unseat the incumbent is not an IDEOLOGY, neither is it PROGRESSIVISM; It is simply an inordinate AMBITION that is destined to fail.”

Meanwhile, El-Rufai’s defection to the SDP has strengthened the conversation about the proposed coalition ahead of the 2027 presidential election
