Aston Villa forward Marcus Rashford is facing the possibility of missing the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, according to a source who spoke with Insight Media.

Rashford was notably absent during Villa’s 3-0 FA Cup semifinal defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday, having sustained the injury in the 2-1 loss to Manchester City the previous week. Although he traveled with the squad to London, he was ruled out shortly before kickoff.

“He is injured,” Villa manager Unai Emery confirmed after the match. “He picked up the injury earlier in the week, and after a test yesterday, we confirmed it’s his hamstring. We’ll continue to monitor him match by match, but he could be out for several weeks.”

Medical assessments indicate the 27-year-old could be sidelined for about a month, casting serious doubt over any further appearances this season. Even if he recovers in time, Rashford is ineligible for Villa’s final match due to Premier League rules preventing him from playing against his parent club, Manchester United.

Sources told ESPN that Villa’s medical team is working closely with United’s staff to manage Rashford’s rehabilitation, with hopes that he could still return in time for England’s June international fixtures.

There is also uncertainty surrounding Rashford’s future. Villa are yet to decide whether to activate the £40 million ($53.5 million) clause to make his loan move permanent. Meanwhile, a source said Rashford is unlikely to remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer, as he doesn’t see a future under incoming United manager Ruben Amorim and is reportedly eyeing a transfer to a Champions League club.
