The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, over alleged abuse of the Naira and defacement of foreign currency.
EFCC operatives reportedly detained him Monday night at his Omole residence in Lagos for allegedly spraying US dollars at a public event a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.
“He was arrested for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currency,” a source said. “Investigations are ongoing, and he will be arraigned soon.”
E-Money has been flown to Abuja for further questioning. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment.
