The Media Office of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has refuted a false report published by a national newspaper, which claimed to have obtained statements from unnamed associates of the former Senate President regarding a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin.
The report, which allegedly quoted views expressed during the meeting, has been categorically rejected by Saraki’s team.
In a statement issued by Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki’s Media Office in Abuja condemned the fabricated story and called on both political allies and the public to ignore it.
The statement also criticized opposition figures in Kwara State for distorting the narrative further, fabricating additional falsehoods, and circulating them online.
The Media Office clarified that the journalist behind the report relied on unnamed, unverified sources and failed to provide any details about the meeting in question.
It was suggested that the story was a result of a misunderstanding about Saraki’s stance on ongoing efforts to form a political coalition.
The Media Office further explained that the journalist may have misconstrued discussions or speculations from individuals speculating on Saraki’s silence.
The statement highlighted that Dr. Saraki, known for his careful communication, does not speak recklessly or in ways that could be easily misinterpreted.
The views attributed to him in the article, along with the misleading graphic circulating online, do not represent his actual position.
“We urge Nigerians to disregard the false report and the altered versions spreading online,” the Media Office concluded.
