Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, a renowned comedian and filmmaker, has raised concerns about the high service fees imposed by Nigerian banks.

He questioned how banks continue to report trillions of naira in profits each quarter despite the country’s economic struggles. He also pointed out that many of these fees are unique to Nigeria and warrant further scrutiny.

In a post on X, AY wrote “Where do banks get the trillions they declare as profits every quarter, even in a struggling economy? The small charges and debits on our accounts need to be challenged. Many of these fees are unique to Nigeria. Why is that? #BankingFees #Nigeria #Transparency #Shalom”

His statement has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing similar concerns about the burden of banking fees.
