Liverpool-Arsenal-EPL

The race at the top of the English Premier League is heating up, with five teams battling it out for the remaining three European spots. Every game feels like a final, and the stakes are getting higher by the week.

Interestingly, the top two spots are now all but decided. Arsenal and Liverpool have punched their tickets to Europe, but the title race took a hit for the Gunners after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stunning strike sent shockwaves through the league — a moment that not only kept Liverpool in the hunt but also nudged Leicester City closer to relegation. If Arsenal slip against Crystal Palace on Wednesday and Liverpool get the job done at Anfield this weekend, Arne Slot’s side could start prepping the champagne.

However, things get even tighter for Newcastle, Manchester City, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and Aston Villa, who currently occupy 3rd through 7th place. Aston Villa are still in the mix — late to the party, maybe, but certainly not out of it.

The upcoming fixtures will likely determine how this thrilling race ends. Nottingham Forest, once sitting comfortably in 3rd, have slipped and are now scrambling to regain form. Tonight, they face an unpredictable Tottenham side, before tough matchups against Brentford, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, West Ham, and Chelsea.

Midweek promises fireworks as Aston Villa host Manchester City in a showdown Pep Guardiola has dubbed a ‘final’. Both clubs are eyeing European football, and for City, this could be the silver lining to an otherwise underwhelming season. Villa’s run-in includes Fulham, Bournemouth, Tottenham, and Manchester United. City, on the other hand, face Wolves, Southampton, Bournemouth, and Fulham — a run they should feel confident about.

Chelsea arguably have the hardest path ahead. Their recent performances have lacked urgency, and questions are growing around manager Enzo Maresca. A narrow win at Craven Cottage was saved by moments of individual brilliance. Now, they face Everton and Liverpool at home, travel to Newcastle, host Manchester United, and close out the season at Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle’s surge to 3rd place has been nothing short of impressive. A four-game winning streak was only just snapped at Villa Park, and they’ll be eager to bounce back. Their remaining fixtures include Ipswich, Brighton, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton — a tough run, but not impossible.

Still, with teams playing opponents who may have different motivations — some chasing titles, others trying to avoid the drop, and some with nothing to play for — it’s hard to predict how things will shake out.

What’s certain is this: the final weeks of the season promise drama, tension, and maybe a few surprises.
