Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai says he left the APC to help form a credible political alternative free from godfatherism and internal strife.

Speaking in Kano, he emphasized Nigeria’s need for a new platform to tackle deep-rooted problems.

He met with Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and SDP leaders to discuss grassroots mobilization, noting Kano’s political importance. El-Rufai, a key APC founder, said the political climate has changed, calling for unity among reform-minded politicians.

He praised the SDP as a party grounded in fairness and merit, free from political control. On rotational presidency, he stressed competence over regional origins. He also confirmed coalition talks with five political blocs to build a stronger opposition under the SDP.
