Jude Okoye, former manager of the music duo Psquare and elder brother to Peter and Paul Okoye, has been released from Ikoyi Prison after meeting bail conditions in a high-profile money laundering case involving N1.38 billion.

Okoye, alongside his company Northside Music Limited, is facing a seven-count charge before Justice A. Owoeye at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The case involves allegations of laundering N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on February 26, 2025, and was granted bail set at N100 million.

On March 3, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed additional charges, alleging that Okoye diverted royalties owed to his brothers, Peter and Paul.

The prosecution claims he misappropriated funds totaling $767,544.15 and £34,537.59 for personal use, leading to an additional bail of N50 million.

After spending over two months in detention, Jude’s release was confirmed on Wednesday through an Instagram post by his younger brother, Paul Okoye.

The post included a video of Jude reuniting with family members. “Jude is finally out after two months. All their efforts to frustrate his bail have collapsed. Welcome home brother @judeengees. And happy birthday,” Paul wrote.

The legal battle has further deepened existing family tensions, with Peter Okoye previously testifying against Jude, citing a breakdown in their professional relationship.
