Jurgen Klopp is reportedly open to taking the reins at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti expected to depart the club before the season concludes.

The former Liverpool manager, who ended his nine-year spell at Anfield last season, is currently serving as Red Bull’s Global Head of Football.

However, Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte claims Klopp is “unhappy” in his new role and could return to coaching as early as July.

Ancelotti’s exit is anticipated following the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26. According to Sky Sports, the Italian may not oversee the final five La Liga fixtures of the season.

Insight Media Sports Arena reported that after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit to Arsenal, losing 5-1 on aggregate, Ancelotti hinted at an uncertain future:
“Maybe the club decides to replace me… That could be tomorrow, 10 days, one month, or in one year.”

Klopp has long been admired by Real president Florentino Pérez, and the club is reportedly prepared to make a serious push for the German coach. Notably, Klopp is said to have a clause in his Red Bull contract allowing him to leave if approached by the German national team — potentially giving Madrid a similar opening.

While Xabi Alonso remains the bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Ancelotti, Klopp is not far behind at 11/2 odds.

During his tenure at Liverpool, Klopp secured the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup. A move to Madrid could also reunite him with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is rumoured to have already agreed personal terms with the Spanish side.
