Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly set to become the next head coach of the Brazil national football team, according to multiple Spanish media sources.

The Italian manager, currently in charge of Real Madrid, has one year remaining on his contract but is expected to depart following the team’s disappointing season. Real Madrid were knocked out in the Champions League quarter-finals by Arsenal and recently lost the Copa del Rey to arch-rivals Barcelona.

After the defeat to Barcelona, Ancelotti acknowledged uncertainty about his future, saying it was “a topic for the next weeks.”

Reports indicate that Ancelotti would assume his new role in time for Brazil’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches in June, which means he would leave Madrid before the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in the United States this summer.

Brazil parted ways with Dorival Junior after a heavy 4-1 loss to Argentina in March. The Seleção are currently fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings.

Ancelotti has enjoyed considerable success at Real Madrid, winning both the Champions League and La Liga last season. Brazilian stars Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo have played key roles in his side. In total, Ancelotti has won three Champions League titles with Real Madrid across two separate spells, including the club’s historic 10th title — La Décima — during his first stint.

Beyond Real Madrid, Ancelotti’s decorated managerial career includes tenures at AC Milan, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain. This season, however, Madrid have struggled defensively and trail Barcelona in the La Liga title race, with the league representing their last major trophy opportunity.
