The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar.
He is wanted for the alleged murder of 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe, a top student at Lead City University.
Nnayereugo allegedly killed Onuwabhagbe at his Ajah, Lagos home on July 13, 2023, before fleeing the country. He was declared wanted in October 2023 and later posted a video online that appeared to confess to the crime a move authorities believe was intended to mislead investigators.
His extradition was the result of collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL Abuja, and Qatari authorities. According to Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the process began after the victim’s family filed a petition on September 29, 2024.
Nnayereugo was first arrested in Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, under the alias “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but escaped during a prison break on November 26. He evaded capture for months, traveling across West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East using various false identities.
On January 24, 2025, he was found living in Doha under the name “Toure Abdoulaye,” using a fake Guinean passport. INTERPOL offices in Abuja and Doha used biometric technology to confirm his true identity, leading to his arrest in February.
Following a formal extradition request by Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice, Qatari authorities approved his return. He arrived in Nigeria early on April 19, 2025.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the international cooperation that led to the arrest and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to justice.
Back in 2023, Lagos police described Nnayereugo as a 26-year-old from Abia State, around 5’9″, dark-skinned, and fluent in English, Igbo, and Pidgin English.
