The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the first group of pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj will depart for Saudi Arabia on May 12 from Ilorin International Airport.
Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdulsalam Abdulkadir, disclosed this during a sensitization programme held on Sunday in Ilorin for the intending pilgrims. He added that subsequent batches will depart on May 14, 16, and 17 respectively.
Abdulkadir assured that all logistical arrangements, including accommodation and catering services in Saudi Arabia, have been finalised. He also noted that vaccinations will be administered on April 28, uniforms distributed on April 30, and travel bags handed out on May 1.
In a significant update, Abdulkadir revealed that pilgrims who paid above N8.4 million in Hajj fees will receive refunds upon their return from Saudi Arabia. He confirmed that visa processing has been completed for all 2,174 registered pilgrims from the state.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Justice Abdul-Lateef Kamaldeen, Grand Khadi of the State Sharia Court of Appeal, enlightened the pilgrims on the spiritual and procedural aspects of Hajj. He urged them to undertake the pilgrimage with sincerity, patience, and fear of Allah.
The second sensitization programme saw the participation of various stakeholders, including former Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde-Jimoh.
