Mr. Taiwo Odumosu, the former legal representative of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has formally distanced himself from a GoFundMe account established to support the investigation into the singer’s death.
Speaking to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, Odumosu clarified that he had no involvement in any financial transactions related to the toxicology analysis, stating that all payments were managed directly by the singer’s family.
“At no point was any payment made through me or my law office,” he said. “Mr. Famuyiwa personally handled the payment to the pathologist. I am not connected to, nor aware of, any GoFundMe account created for Mohbad’s case.”
He further disclosed that the toxicology test was carried out free of charge by a European laboratory, a fact confirmed during a meeting he attended with both the pathologist and Mr. Famuyiwa.
Odumosu also urged the family to provide transparency regarding how the funds raised through GoFundMe have been utilized.
Addressing the public, the lawyer expressed concern over the misinformation and personal attacks directed at him and the forensic expert involved in the case.
He commended the pathologist for their professionalism and dedication in handling such a sensitive matter, adding that the autopsy and toxicology procedures were conducted with precision and integrity.
“Justice will prevail not just for Mohbad, but also for those who have been wrongly accused or defamed while standing for the truth,” Odumosu concluded. “In time, the truth will vindicate us.”
