Renowned gospel singer Tope Alabi is said to have declined an invitation to perform at Nigerian actress Liz Anjorin’s birthday celebration.
According to PUNCH Online, Alabi reportedly refused to exit her car upon discovering that Anjorin was the celebrant. It was disclosed that Anjorin’s fans had organized for Alabi to perform at the event, but the gospel singer was unaware of the celebrant’s identity until her arrival.
Once Alabi realized that Anjorin was the one celebrating her birthday, she allegedly chose not to leave the car and told the organizers that she couldn’t perform due to personal reasons. She eventually left the venue and returned the payment made for her performance.
In a video shared on Saturday, Anjorin voiced her frustration, criticizing Alabi for refusing to perform at the surprise party. The actress made it clear that she would not be intimidated by anyone. She also displayed evidence of the N4 million her fans had paid to secure Alabi’s appearance.
Anjorin stated, “Aunty Tope, my fans paid you N4 million, and I have the proof. Even if you were paid 500k, weren’t you an actress? In acting, we’re taught that if you’re asked to kiss your enemy on set, you must do it.”
She added, “You are a brand that your husband built while going through hunger.”
The actress also clarified that she had no prior knowledge of her fans’ decision to invite Alabi. “I’m a Muslim, and I didn’t expect my fans to invite a gospel singer to my birthday. They should have invited an Islamic singer,” she explained.
