The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has introduced a new eight-member senior management team to guide the company’s operations and strategic growth. This restructuring is designed to improve operational efficiency.
The announcement was made by the company’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Leading the new team is Mr. Bashir Ojulari, who takes on the role of Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO). The team also includes Rowland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer, Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer, and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President of Gas and Power & New Energy.
Mumuni Dangazau has been appointed as Executive Vice President of Downstream, filling the position previously held by Isiyaku Abdullahi, who was appointed last November. Other key appointments are Sophia Mbakwe as Executive Vice President of Business Services, and Adesua Dozie as Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer. All appointments are effective immediately.
The statement highlighted that these changes follow the earlier appointment of the GCEO and Board of Directors. In compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act, the management team’s details and roles will be submitted to the Corporate Affairs Commission for formal registration.
The new management team has been approved by the company’s shareholders, including the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. A resolution signed by the shareholders confirms their support for the changes, including the authorization of necessary filings with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
This restructuring comes on the heels of President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on Wednesday, which also resulted in the reconstitution of NNPCL’s board. Among the board changes, Chief Pius Akinyelure, the former chairman, along with all other board members appointed in November 2023, were replaced.
