President Bola Tinubu has praised Remo Stars Football Club for their remarkable achievement in securing the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title, calling it a significant milestone that brings national recognition to Ikenne and Ogun State.
In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu applauded the players, coaching staff, and management of Remo Stars for their “dedication, discipline, and unwavering determination.”
He highlighted the team’s resilience, especially in overcoming previous disappointments, and expressed admiration for their relentless pursuit of success.
“Their perseverance, having come close three times before finally clinching the title, is truly commendable. I trust their story will inspire other Nigerian clubs to chase their dreams with unwavering commitment and optimism,” Tinubu remarked.
The President also acknowledged the pivotal role of Remo Stars’ owner and chairman, Mr. Kunle Soname, commending his dedication to nurturing grassroots football in Nigeria. He emphasized that Soname’s investment, including the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne, has laid a strong foundation for the country’s sports development.
With the NPFL trophy now in their hands, Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the prestigious CAF Champions League. President Tinubu urged the team to remain focused and driven as they pursue continental glory.
He also called on football fans nationwide to rally behind the team as they embark on their African journey.
