The death toll from the recent attacks in Plateau State has risen to 52, with the recovery of 40 more corpses on Wednesday and Thursday night.

The Chairman of Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed that 31 persons were given a mass burial on Thursday, while five underage victims were burnt to ashes in Hurti village.

 

The attacks, which occurred on the night of April 2nd, 2025, targeted several communities in the Bokkos Local Government Area, including Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai. Gunmen opened fire on innocent citizens, leaving many dead and injured.

 

The state government has condemned the attacks and assured that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Some suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings, and security agencies have deployed to the areas to ensure normalcy returns.

 

The government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.

They have also called on religious, traditional, and community leaders to reinforce the message of peace, unity, and lawful engagement.
