Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has advised former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to prioritize defending himself in the ongoing N80.2 billion fraud trial rather than attempting to orchestrate her recall from the Senate.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Natasha expressed her gratitude to her constituents for their unwavering support. She responded to remarks from the Kogi State Government, which had previously dismissed her allegations of an assassination plot involving Bello, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Senator Ekpenyong Asuquo.

Kogi’s Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, had labeled Natasha an “incurable liar” and a “serial manipulator.”

Despite these accusations, Natasha remained firm, rejecting any attempts at blackmail and reaffirming her commitment to serving her constituents.

“I advise the former governor to focus on clearing his name regarding the N80.2 billion fraud case rather than trying to disrupt the mandate given to me by the people of Kogi Central,” she said. “I will not betray my people, and I will continue to serve them with loyalty.”

Natasha further accused Bello of orchestrating multiple attacks against her during the last general elections and condemned the recall effort as yet another attempt to undermine the will of her constituents.

“Despite numerous attempts to suppress my popularity, the people of Kogi Central have firmly rejected any effort to manipulate their decision,” Natasha declared.

In a separate development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Media Network in Akwa Ibom State has called for a thorough investigation into Natasha’s allegations of an assassination plot, urging security agencies to hold her accountable if the claims prove unfounded.

The group’s Director-General, Iniobong John, noted that Natasha had previously leveled similar accusations against Bello in 2019, which were not backed by credible evidence.

“We urge the authorities to investigate these allegations thoroughly. Natasha bears the burden of proof, and if her claims are found to be without merit, she must face consequences,” John concluded.
