A scavenger was killed and three others hospitalized after a military-grade grenade exploded at a metal scrap yard in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the scavengers attempted to dismantle the grenade, causing it to detonate.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion sparked panic among residents, and the police were immediately contacted.
Two undetonated grenades were found at the scene, and the Explosive and Ordinance Department of the Lagos State Police Command rendered the area safe.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that investigation has commenced and the scene of the incident has been cordoned off.
