Napoli head coach, Antonio Conte has raised fresh concern over his future at the club, criticizing the club’s transfer strategy ahead of the summer window.
Napoli remain firmly in the Serie A title race, trailing leaders Inter Milan by just three points with six games remaining. However, Conte has voiced his frustration over what he perceives as a lack of backing from the club’s hierarchy.
“I said a lot early on—some of it still holds true, some doesn’t,” Conte remarked. “I don’t take anything back, but you do learn. With Kvara [Khvicha Kvaratskhelia], for example, I said Napoli shouldn’t be seen as a stepping stone. After eight months here, I’ve realized many things simply aren’t possible.”
Conte’s comments suggest lingering discontent following the club’s failure to adequately replace Kvaratskhelia, who was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in January. The situation echoes previous frustrations Conte has had with recruitment strategies, notably during his stint at Tottenham.
While a departure before the season’s end appears unlikely, the Italian manager’s future remains uncertain. A win against Monza on Saturday could see Napoli draw level with Inter, who face Bologna on Sunday.
