Nigerian artist Raoul Nkeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, is witnessing a revival of his 2015 hit “Shake Body,” a decade after it first dropped.

The renewed popularity can be attributed to several new DJ remixes, particularly one by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer, which Skales recently shared on streaming platforms.

Within just 10 hours, the remix garnered nearly 200,000 streams, despite not being added to any major playlists.

The track is also gaining traction due to a viral TikTok video featuring 17-year-old football star Lamine Yamal of FC Barcelona. Yamal’s dance to “Shake Body” has introduced the song to a younger audience, sparking a new wave of attention.

Skales isn’t alone in experiencing this kind of resurgence. Other older Nigerian tracks, such as Mike Ejeagha’s “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti,” have also found viral success on TikTok long after their initial release.

Skales expressed his disbelief and gratitude on social media, saying, “This is crazy! With ‘Shake Body’ trending again, I decided to officially release this DJ remix I heard in Europe last year, and in just 10 hours, it’s almost at 200k streams without any playlist support. That’s insane… thank you Jesus!!! God truly works in mysterious ways.”

TikTok users have also shown excitement. One user, Onizwise, wrote, “This when God remember Skales go remember me and you,” while Meneer Makrizza was curious about how Yamal even knew the song, asking, “But how did this Yamal boy even remember this song?”

Others expressed their support, including Meme Coin Investment, who said, “I’m happy for Skales,” and Guappo, who commented, “Skales has really tried, he deserves this. I don’t know why the industry blackballed him like that.”

With over 40 million streams on Spotify, “Shake Body” has proven that social media can give old hits a new life, bringing Skales back into the spotlight.
