Controversial Nigerian musicians Speed Darlington and Portable are set to square off in a celebrity boxing match on April 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.
The showdown follows a heated exchange between the two artists after Speed Darlington offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at his event, a proposition that quickly sparked backlash.
Portable dismissed the offer as “ridiculous,” calling Darlington “poor” and emphasizing that his performance fees start at no less than ₦20 million.
“You want me to perform at your event, but you don’t have the money? You’re just using my name to sell tickets. I charge ₦20 million, ask around. I didn’t know you were this broke. I don’t associate with poor people,” Portable said.
Darlington later expressed regret for his offer, questioning the insults that followed. “I regret it, but why all the insults?” he said.
The event was officially announced on Instagram by the organizer, Mygamerush, who wrote: “You asked, and now it’s here. Two street kings battle for ultimate street supremacy.”
The upcoming match has generated significant buzz on social media, with fans excited about the clash. Users shared their reactions.
