Sterling Bank has announced the elimination of transfer fees for all local online transactions, positioning itself as the first major Nigerian bank to remove these charges from digital banking.
The announcement, made in a press release on Tuesday, reflects the bank’s dedication to customer-focused banking.
Obinna Ukachukwu, Sterling’s Growth Executive in charge of Consumer and Business Banking, explained that the zero-fee policy aims to foster fair and inclusive banking practices.
“Access to your own money shouldn’t come with a penalty,” Ukachukwu stated. “This is more than just a financial decision it’s about reshaping banking to prioritize customers.”
With the new policy, Sterling Bank customers will no longer incur fees for local transfers conducted via the bank’s mobile app. This change is expected to offer significant relief to both individual customers and small business owners who frequently perform transactions.
Ukachukwu emphasized that the bank’s move is not merely a competitive strategy. “While we may not yet be the largest bank in Nigeria, we are certainly one of the boldest,” he said
“Sterling is confident in Nigeria’s future, and we’re backing our people with actions, not just words.”
This bold step reaffirms Sterling Bank’s commitment to providing its customers with accessible, affordable banking services.
