The 17th edition of the Headies Awards unfolded on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, where Africa’s biggest stars Tems, Rema, Flavour, and Davido claimed top honors.

 

Tems was honored with the coveted Best Recording of the Year award for her soulful track “Burning,” reinforcing her position as one of the continent’s brightest talents.

 

She also delivered an unforgettable performance, captivating the audience with her stage presence.

 

Rema’s impressive journey continued as he won Afrobeats Album of the Year for his album HEIS. His smash hit “OZEBA” contributed to London’s win for Producer of the Year, a testament to Rema’s expanding influence in the global Afrobeats movement.

 

Flavour’s track Big Baller took home the award for Afrobeats Single of the Year, solidifying his place as a true industry legend. His energy on stage and throughout the night earned him widespread praise, especially across social media.

 

Davido was named Best Digital Artist of the Year, a well-earned accolade for his digital dominance across streaming platforms. His collaboration on Ogechi Remix with Hyce, Boypee, and Brown Joel also earned multiple nominations.

 

The star-studded event, which sparked trending hashtags like #TheHeadies and #Headies2025, was attended by prominent figures such as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as a host of actors, musicians, and influencers.

 

In addition to celebrating musical excellence, the Headies also honored exceptional individuals with Special Recognition and Humanitarian Awards. Governor Sanwo-Olu, Alex Okosi, and Amaju Pinnick were among those recognized for their outstanding contributions.

 

Odumodublvck was named Next Rated artist, while Tanzania’s Juma Jux took home the award for Best East African Artist.

 

The 17th Headies Awards once again proved to be the ultimate celebration of African music, reinforcing its status as the premier event for honoring the continent’s top talents.
