Former militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, has called on northern political leaders to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027.

Tompolo, who recently endorsed Tinubu for a second term, praised the President for his leadership and experience, believing he has the ability to take Nigeria to greater heights.

In an interview with Arise Television, the Niger Delta leader emphasized the need for backing for Tinubu, especially as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar intensifies his efforts to form a coalition against the incumbent ahead of the 2027 elections.

Atiku, along with former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai and other northern figures, is working to establish a coalition to challenge Tinubu and the ruling party.

However, Tompolo directly appealed to northern leaders, urging them to allow President Tinubu to complete his full eight-year term, just as his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, was permitted to do.

Tompolo expressed his commitment to traveling across northern states to engage with the people and rally support for Tinubu’s re-election.

“We will do our part, even extending our efforts beyond our region to speak with our northern brothers, so Tinubu can secure his second term,” he said.

“Tinubu is a good leader with the experience needed to propel this country forward. Buhari served his eight years, and Tinubu should be given the same opportunity. After that, we can search for another leader. There’s no need for anyone to claim a monopoly on power. We must allow Tinubu to complete his term, and with God’s grace, we will receive widespread support.”

Tompolo also mentioned that traditional rulers in Delta State have thrown their weight behind Tinubu’s re-election bid.
