
Troops under Operation Delta Safe have arrested 49 oil thieves and dismantled 22 illegal refineries over the past week, according to the Defence Headquarters.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared the update in Abuja, highlighting the military’s ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and economic sabotage.
In the operations, troops seized, 325,990 litres of stolen crude oil, 24,645 litres of illegally refined diesel (AGO), 19,500 litres of petrol (PMS), 1,600 litres of engine oil
The estimated value of the prevented oil theft is ₦869.2 million.
Additionally, troops destroyed 86 crude oil cooking ovens, 181 dugout pits, 25 boats, a speedboat, 18 storage tanks, 316 drums, and confiscated multiple items including generators, pumping machines, drilling tools, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones, and 18 vehicles.
Beyond these operations, the military also neutralised insurgents, rescued hostages, and recovered a cache of weapons such as machine guns, RPGs, IEDs, and assorted ammunition.
Major General Kangye reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring national security.
