The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, a public holiday in honor of this year’s Workers’ Day celebration.
Announcing the holiday on behalf of the government, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the importance of peace as a foundation for industrialization and economic development.
In a statement released Tuesday night and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister commended Nigerian workers for their dedication and sacrifice, describing their contributions as central to the nation’s progress and global standing.
“There is dignity in labour,” Tunji-Ojo said, stressing that commitment to work is essential to nation-building. He encouraged workers to embrace innovation and productivity to enhance governance and ensure all Nigerians benefit from the country’s resources.
He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
As he wished workers a joyful celebration, the Minister called on citizens to remain hopeful, reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
