President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the unanimous support of all 22 governors elected on the All Progressives Congress platform, making him the party’s only presidential contender for the general elections in 2027.
At the APC National Summit, which took place at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja on Thursday, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, made the announcement. Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far was the theme of the summit.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, the vice chairman of the PGF, seconded Uzodimma’s proposal to adopt Tinubu as the only candidate of the APC.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, serving and former governors, and APC members from across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
This development follows a similar endorsement by the Northwest APC faction just five days earlier, signalling growing intra-party consensus behind Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
